Presented above in a modified Hubble palette, this is the first frame of a planned mosaic encompassing the Heart and Soul nebula complex lying in the constellation Cassiopeia. An emission nebula consisting of glowing interstellar gas, excited by the radiation coming from the stars in the open cluster (Melotte 15) lying at the center of the nebula. A second version is presented below, in a different color scheme where the red emission from glowing hydrogen gas dominates the nebula's color. | |||
