Chuuk 2015 (Truk)

In October 2015 a group of 18 went to Truk (Chuuk) Island in Micronesia to dive the fabulous shipwrecks found in the lagoon. Mike Boring was kind enough to undertake organizing this large group. We stayed at and dived out of the excellent Blue Lagoon Dive Resort:

Truk was one of the main Japanese naval bases during the Second World War, and the shipwrecks found here were sent to the bottom in 1944 during carrier raids conducted by the American Navy. This was my third trip to this wreck-diving paradise, but my first with a digital camera. I had visited the island in 1999 and 2004, but in those days I was still shooting film. Shooting digital was a pleasure, of course. I found that a number of the wrecks had deteriorated noticeably since my last visit, but this is still one of the best wreck diving destinations in the world.

I shot all of these images with a Canon 5Dmk3 and 14mm f/2.8 lens in an Aquatica housing, with 2 Subtronic strobes. Images were processed in Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.
